While I usually go through my closet on a seasonal basis, moving really forced me to do a deep clean. I didn’t want to just fill my closet with things I know I haven’t worn in years. Ya girl doesn’t have a walk-in closet (maybe one day!) so I occasionally have to go through my closet so I can make space for what I need and just declutter. So, when I gave away what didn’t fit/ what I didn’t want anymore and my closet was all packed away I decided to see how I can recycle my clothing and mix them up a bit to create different looks. I don’t know about you, but I like to get the full wear out of whatever I buy.

While I do shop online, I have always loved going to stores to shop. For one, it just hits different when you walk out of a store with good deals and your purchases in hand. Two, I like to touch and analyze the quality of the clothing because that determines if it’s actually worth the price I’m about to pay for it and three, I like to try on my clothes so I know there is no returning once I purchase. I hate when I order something, it doesn’t fit and then I gotta send it back and the whole nine yards lol. I guess I’m old school when it comes to shopping but it works for me.

Since many of the stores I loved to shop at were closed because of Covid-19, mixing-and-matching what I already owned seemed like a better alternative. The upside is that I really got to see what I have in my closet and what pieces I need to purchase. Plus, it was pretty fun to see the different looks I could create and actually wear when outside fully opens up. In the meantime while I wait, my boyfriend’s backyard will have to do and I don’t mind it one bit!

I suggest, if you have the time right now, you should go through your closets and find ways to recycle, or mix and match your clothing. You will definitely save money in the process while also getting your money's worth from the things you already own and have probably only worn once or twice.

All the clothing and the shoes I’m wearing in these photos are from last year and even a few years ago so you won’t be able to find these same exact pieces but maybe you can recycle a few pieces in your closet and get a similar look. 😉
